CORE CATEGORY

Polo shirts

A polo can be built very differently depending on where it will be worn. Intended use sets the direction, then fabric construction, GSM, fit, collar, placket, sleeve and decoration shape the final specification.

POLO TYPES

What each one is built for

Use these as common starting points rather than fixed recipes. The same polo can change considerably once the fit, fabric and construction are specified.

01

Casual polo

A retail-oriented polo where fabric handle, fit and finishing usually carry more of the product identity. The specification can range from a straightforward regular-fit piqué polo to a slimmer or more relaxed style.

02

Sport & Golf Polo

Sport and golf polos are usually specified around movement, fabric weight and the amount of stretch required. The construction can stay visually close to a classic polo while the fabric and fit move in a more performance-oriented direction.

03

Uniform polo

Uniform polos are usually specified around repeated wear, branding, sizing and the environment in which the garment will be used. Fabric choice and construction can therefore differ substantially between an office uniform, F&B program and workwear order.

04

Hi-vis workwear polo

Hi-vis workwear polos can be developed around visibility colours, workwear-oriented fabrics and reflective details where required by the product brief. Any program tied to a formal safety standard needs its compliance requirement identified at the start.

The options shown here should not be treated as certified safety garments. If your program must meet AS/NZS 4602, EN ISO 20471, ANSI/ISEA 107 or another standard, include that requirement in the brief so the product can be assessed on that basis.

Fabric

The fabric changes more than the feel

Fabric construction, fibre composition and GSM affect much of the weight, handle and structure of a polo. Piqué, jersey and interlock do not produce the same garment, even when the silhouette looks similar.

DECORATION

The right finish for your artwork

Blank garments are available if decoration is handled elsewhere. Harvion can also provide screen printing, embroidery, heat transfer and DTF/PET-film transfer as part of the order. Artwork, fabric and placement determine which method is most suitable.

Screen printing

Screen printing works well for many garment graphics, from small logos to larger prints. Colour count, print area and fabric influence the print setup.

Embroidery

Embroidery suits logos and branding where a stitched finish is appropriate, particularly on polos, uniforms and heavier fabrics. Artwork may need adjustment for scale and stitch density.

Heat transfer

Transfer methods can work well for detailed or multicolour artwork and designs that do not suit traditional screen printing. Heat transfer and DTF/PET-film each give a different result depending on the artwork and fabric.

Next step

Start with the polo you want to produce

Send the intended use, estimated quantity and any specification, size chart or reference you already have. That gives us enough context to identify the fabric, construction and decoration details that still need a decision before costing.
